I read an article the other day which related the fact that more
younger people are going back to eating meat, rather than becoming
vegetarians. An interesting fact, and one about which I'm happy to hear.
Here's
my thoughts about meat eaters and those who advise against eating
animal flesh (including fish). Simply stated, eat meaters, in the long
run, or more aggressive/assertive, while non-meat eaters are more
passive. Except in an exception which may "prove the rule", PETA's
early days were very aggressive, leading the group, to my best
knowldge, to be classified a terroirst organization - along with
other animal liberation groups.
We continually read the works of
writers who bemoan the fact that animals are made to suffer, die
painful deaths, and, because of that, animals should not be a
food source and all clothing should be made from man-made fibers. I
don't think these calls to "set the animals free" are naive - I believe
they are all part of a business plan.
Humans are
omnivores. We eat meat and plants to survive. We eat products derived
from animals to survive (eggs, milk, for instance). Humans need the
proteins and carbohydrates derived from all foods, and the animals and
fish we eat are all part of our natural diet. We're no different than
the other animals inhabiting this planet, except for the fact that we
are on the top of the food chain, Happily, we only have to worry about
all the nut cases out there who are killing their fellow man because,
they have no value of human life, without having to worry about
becoming their next meal.
Other than those animals we hunt for
food, so as to maintain their populations at a number which allows them
to survive (not starve to death because of over population/lack of
feed/grazing land/etc.), farm and ranch animals exist to supply
mankind with a food source. Animals are not our equals, they are
a product of the agricultural industry.
Now, working
to save the "poor mistreated animals", is a sign of weakness. It s a
weakness which helps maintain an attitude of "love, not war", an
attitude that is both naive and dangerous, and one out of touch with
reality. The "brave" people who break into testing labs to "free" the
animals used in tests only condemn those animals to die in the wild.
These are the same people who claim they like animals better than
people. Get a life! And the lives they lose will be their own, because
if they are softhearted re: killing animals for food, how would they be
able to take a life to protect themselves? Oh, sure - they say that
would be no problem, but talking the talk and walking the walk are two
different things.
If all of the animal rights people would spend
their time dealing with improving human rights, and just eat the
animals, we'd all be better off.
